1. What is it?

Podcasting is a media file distributed over the internet and is viewable on a portable media player or a PC.

2. Why is it called podcasting?

Because the first portable media player was the iPod; and podcasting is a combination of the words iPod and broadcast.

3. How does it work?

A media file is uploaded to the internet by its creator. Then, the file is downloaded to a PC. The file is then viewed on the PC, or transferred to a portable media player, which has a script used to view a podcast.

4. Why would anyone want to do this?

To make/see a radio show made publicly, and to do other things, such as distributing school assignments; giving police safety reports to communities, and official and unofficial museum audio tours.

5. Who uses it?

People who like to view content made from users like themselves.

6. When was the term invented?

What is podcasting?
Podcasting is a digital media file or files on the internet and can be on computers or media players like iPod.

Why might it be called podcasting?
It is two words squeezed into one. The "pod" comes from the word "iPod", which is an awesome handheld media player, and "casting" comes from the word "broadcasting". When you squeeze those two words together, you get.... podcasting.

How does it work?
Somebody puts something awesome on the computer, then you download it, you watch it, you like it, you plug your little iPod to the computer and you download on there, then you can watch it whenever and wherever you want.

Why would any one want to do this?
Why wouldn't you want to do this?! You could watch movies, listen to music etc. Its just the bomb.
